ABOUT ME

I’m K.M. Vallilee: author, mother, and wearer of many hats. When I'm not creating fantasy worlds filled with magic and adventure, you’ll find me fly fishing the crystal-clear waters of the Florida Keys or hanging with family and a few good friends.

My upcoming debut novel, The First Fall of Crowns, follows a young woman who is banished from her home as beasts return from the Old World and a mysterious blight withers crops across the kingdom—only to discover a strange and dangerous power awaking inside her, one that threatens everyone she’d ever loved.

The novel emerged in the wake of losing my dad. It was more of an impulse than a conscious choice, but in the tumult of complicated grief and existential questions that arose after that loss, a part of me woke up, reconnecting me with the joy of creative writing I'd known when I was younger.

In hindsight, I see that writing fantasy presented me with the perfect canvas to process the heaviest themes in my life in a way that felt safe. From loss to addiction to the way hearts find the courage to heal, fiction can contain it all. Through my writing, I hope to transport readers to worlds where magic exists not only in fantastical elements but in the extraordinary resilience of the human spirit as well.
